Values

A 2026 dollar’s market depends on whether you are holding the base-metal coin from a roll or a different gold piece with the same portrait idea. This page is a series reference, not a price list.

The mintage chart leaves G, VF, and MS-63 blank. The NGC US Coin Price Guide file retrieved 2026-08-21 does not cover this dollar. Do not turn a Mint product limit into a price.

If you have rolls and want to sell them, start with how to sell a coin collection. The American Innovation dollar is a different series. So is the Native American dollar, which the 2026 proof sets still include.

Key Dates

One year. This page will not bold the July 4 privy. A privy is a special strike, not a key list.

Errors

July 4 privy. Wikipedia says 250,000 of the dollars were struck on 4 July 2026 with a JULY 4th privy and mixed into rolls and bags. That is a special-issue count. The circulating-production cell is blank, so the privy count is not used here as the year’s mintage.

Two figures in the article. The production section prints an authorized bag-and-roll total, and the table note says those privy coins came from an original batch of 9 million. Those sentences are not the same number. This page will not pick one and call it the annual mintage.

The gold 250-dollar piece. Announced for November 2026, struck at West Point, containing gold. It is a different denomination. It is not a row on this chart.

Compare the coin to the NGC Coin Explorer dollar pages. We do not host their plates. Innovation dollars are a different obverse.

Varieties

The manganese-brass dollar is one design: Trump by Joseph Menna, and the Great Seal. The July 4 privy is a special strike. The announced gold piece with a 250-dollar denomination is a different coin, not a variety of this dollar.

  • Ordinary 2026 dollarThe roll and bag coin with no privy. Philadelphia strikes have no mint mark.
  • July 4 privyA JULY 4th privy mixed into rolls and bags, as this page already records. It is a special strike, not a die crack, and it is not used here as the year’s mintage.

Names follow PCGS CoinFacts and NGC, the same publishers this site already cites. This is a name list, not a price list and not a count.

Mintage

Struck at Philadelphia with no mint mark, for rolls, bags, and circulation.

Mintage: the note under this table names the page that printed each count. These figures are not an NGC Coin Explorer extract and they are not the 1974 Mint pamphlet.

Collector-standard year/mint presentation follows A Guide Book of United States Coins (the Red Book). These cells are Mint manufacture figures, not a Red Book net or melt.

Values: NGC US Coin Price Guide, retrieved 2026-08-21. Guide values, not offers. Not melt. NGC IDs link to the same publisher’s price-guide listing.

Key date names: PCGS CoinFacts (2026-08-21). Bold rows are only dates that publisher named.

The Wikipedia semiquincentennial coinage table cites the US Mint circulating-production page retrieved 3 September 2026. That snapshot is not a full year. Blank cells stay blank. Filled cells from that retrieval are not copied here. Special issues named in the article stay off this chart.

The chart is empty on purpose. The Wikipedia circulating table cites the US Mint production page retrieved 3 September 2026, and the dollar cells are blank. Bag-and-roll authorizations and the July 4 privy count stay in the prose. They are not substituted for a blank annual cell.

The grade columns are empty because this site has no NGC guide extract for this coin.

Specifications

These are mint specs, not what a dealer pays. Wear can take a little weight off. We will not invent a tolerance. A color comparison to the Sacagawea dollar is not a thickness, and that older planchet is not copied here.

Grading

The 2026 dollar wears first on the cheek and the coat, and on the eagle’s wing. Bag marks show up there.

The Great Seal reverse is this coin. A gold piece with a different denomination is not.

Key Diagnostic Areas

What to read on this design, and why those spots move the grade.
AreaWhat to examineWhy it matters
PortraitThe cheek, the hair, and the shoulder of the coat. Those are the high points on a new dollar. A wipe shows on the cheek first.
The eagleThe wing and the shield on the Great Seal.Gasparro’s seal is the reverse. An Innovation dollar has a different back.
PrivyA JULY 4th privy, if the coin has one.The privy is a special strike. A story about a privy is not a privy.

Circulated & Mint State

These cards describe this coin, not a second copy of the P-1 through MS-70 chart. The shared numbers live on the glossary.

What each named grade looks like on this design.

Poor

Poor

A disk you can still call a 2026 dollar if you already know the type.

  • The cheek and the eagle’s wing are gone.
  • The date may be a shadow. Do not scrape it.
  • Shine does not make this a better coin.

AG

About Good

You might read a digit. The high points on this 2026 dollar are already slick.

  • The cheek and the eagle’s wing are worn to a blank patch.
  • If you cannot read the date without hoping, stay here.
  • A 2026 is still this grade if it is this worn.

Good

Good

The date is readable. The design is still mostly an outline.

  • The cheek and the eagle’s wing are flat. The type is an outline, not a portrait.
  • The rim should be full enough to hold the legend.
  • This is a worn coin, not a details story.

VG

Very Good

The date is clear. A little life returns away from the high points.

  • Some leftover detail sits away from the cheek and the eagle’s wing.
  • The high points are still tired.
  • Do not clean the date to “see it better.”

Fine

Fine

You can follow the design. The high points are outlined, not sharp.

  • The cheek and the eagle’s wing are outlined and flat — no real sharpness yet.
  • The rest of the coin can look busier than the grade.
  • The date should be clear. The mint mark should be too, if there is one.

VF

Very Fine

The type is doing real work. The cheek and the eagle’s wing still decide.

  • Leftover detail sits on the cheek and the eagle’s wing. The centers are still the worn spot.
  • Marks do not raise the grade.
  • A regular 2026 is still this grade if it is this worn.

EF

Extremely Fine

Most of the coin looks sharp. The high points tell on it.

  • Light wear on the cheek and the eagle’s wing.
  • The rest of the coin can look better than the grade. Trust the high points.
  • The date should be sharp.

AU

About Uncirculated

Almost no wear — and “almost” lives on the same high points.

  • A trace of rub on the cheek and the eagle’s wing.
  • Luster may still sit in the fields. Rub on those high points is still rub.
  • A bright coin with a slick high point is still slick.

Basal MS

Mint State

No wear. The fight is marks and luster, not how white the coin looks.

  • No rub on the cheek and the eagle’s wing.
  • Marks and luster decide how this mint-state coin lives.
  • A bright chewed-up coin is still chewed-up.

Choice

Choice Mint State

Still no wear. Cleaner fields than basal mint state.

  • Same no-wear rule on the cheek and the eagle’s wing.
  • Fewer marks in the fields. Luster is more intact.
  • White is not a grade.

Gem

Gem Mint State

A clean 2026 dollar for this type. Still mint state, still not a story.

  • No wear on the cheek and the eagle’s wing.
  • Marks and luster, not a romance about a date or a white field.
  • A slab is an opinion in plastic. The glossary has the numbers.

This page does not invent a PR price grid for the dollar. The proof numbers live on the glossary.

Copper color designations do not apply to this dollar. See the Lincoln Wheat cent and the glossary.

Overview

The 2026 dollar is the semiquincentennial one-dollar coin. Joseph Menna’s obverse shows President Donald J. Trump nearly facing, in a suit and tie. Frank Gasparro’s reverse is the Great Seal. The Mint put rolls and bags on sale on 2 September 2026, and the coin is also meant for circulation. It is a base-metal dollar, not the gold piece announced beside it.

No paired public-domain type plate was added. The placeholder is intentional.

This page is a series article, not a shop listing.

History

The 2020 redesign act allowed a 2026 dollar. Drafts in October 2025 showed a profile and a raised-fist reverse. The design that shipped is the suited portrait and the Great Seal. Treasury said the obverse was legal under the act because the restriction on a living person applied to the reverse. The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee did not review the final coin. Calvin Coolidge on the 1926 Sesquicentennial half is the earlier case of a sitting president on a coin. This page records that comparison. It does not grade the politics.

Rolls and bags went on sale on 2 September 2026 and sold through quickly. That is a product result. The Mint production table, as retrieved for the Wikipedia circulating grid on 3 September 2026, still has an empty dollar cell.

Design

Obverse: Trump, by Joseph Menna, from the portrait the Mint used for the shipping design. Reverse: the Great Seal eagle, credited to Frank Gasparro. No mint mark on the Philadelphia piece. A JULY 4th privy, when it is there, is the special strike. It is not a die crack.

Look at the cheek and the coat, and at the eagle’s wing. Those are the high points on a new dollar. Bag marks will show up there first.

People Also Ask

Who is on the 2026 dollar?

President Donald J. Trump, in a suit and tie, sculpted by Joseph Menna. The reverse is the Great Seal, credited to Frank Gasparro. Philadelphia strikes have no mint mark.

How much is a 2026 dollar worth?

This page does not print guide prices. The NGC extract on file does not include this coin. A sell-out of Mint rolls is not a grade and not a melt value.

Why is the chart empty?

The Wikipedia circulating table, citing the US Mint production page retrieved 3 September 2026, leaves the dollar cells blank. The article also prints an authorized bag-and-roll figure and a round “original batch” phrase that do not match each other cleanly. Neither becomes a row.

Is the 250 dollar gold piece this coin?

No. A gold piece with a 250-dollar denomination was announced for a later release. It is not the manganese-brass dollar on this page, and it is not a chart row.

Collector Considerations

Buy the metal you mean. The roll coin is the dollar on this page. The announced gold piece is not. A July 4 privy, if the coin actually has one, should be visible. A story about a privy is not a privy.

If you bought a roll, leave the coins in the roll until you are ready to look. The coin dealer directory starts in Ohio.

For the half dollar of the same program, read the Enduring Liberty half. For the dollar series that continues beside this one-year coin, read the Native American dollar.

A Final Word

The 2026 dollar is a one-year design with an empty chart. The portrait is the portrait. The blank production cell stays blank.

When you want the small dollar that was already in the sets, the Native American dollar is already here.
